Oreimo Season 2 is now available to view on Crunchyroll.
Kirino Kousaka seems like you’re cliched super perfect teenage girl. She aces all of her subjects in school, looks beautiful and even has a part time job as a glamour model. But something that she always keeps to herself is the fact she is a closet otaku who loves nothing more than erotic visual novels about little sisters. Back in the first season of Ore no Imouto Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai we saw Kirino go from reclusive otaku to one with a myriad of anime loving friends as well as strengthening the relationship with her brother who seem to have a weakened bond judging by this opening episode.
Season 2 follows the main protagonist Kyousuke Kousaka who acts as the narrator once again as familiar characters are established once again to bring viewers up to speed. There’s no real story development in this first episode but it acts as an adorable yet entertaining prologue to what is bound to be another entertaining season of Oreimo.
The animation and music remain mostly the same with Claris returning to provide us with a sickeningly catchy opening theme. This time around you may notice some subtle details in the animation that make it more immersive and sometimes humorous. Just don’t go expecting something drastically different as we are still getting the same tried and tested slice of life formula. Whether something new is implemented in later episodes we are yet to see but it’ll definitely be awesome if things are shaken up a bit.
If you’re a fan of adorable tsunderes, slice of life or just up for a bit of a giggle then you’ll definitely want to check this show out. It’d be best to catch up with the first season or give the manga a read first though. Keep your eyes on Anime Picks for a mid-season review soon.
